Dear family and friends:

I honestly believe that we’re in on a “secret,” getting to take part in something historic in modern missions. I mean you and us, all of us, members of this team. I believe God brought us here, drew us together and is presenting us a unique opportunity. One whose potential is not unlike the birth of radio or television, like the beginning of the JESUS Film outreach.

This is background information to help you understand what I am about to say. Effective ministry and “open doors” don’t necessarily mean red carpets and smooth sailing! The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians of his future plans, saying “a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”

When we really step out and side with Christ, as someone once pointed out, it’s a little like showing up at an Al-Qaeda training camp in an “I love the U.S.A.” t-shirt. And when I say you and us in the first paragraph, “we” here means you, too. We’re all co-laborers together with God in reaching millions worldwide through the Internet; and we can’t do it without you; you’re a vital part of the team. This means that you have a target painted on your t-shirt as well—for this reason, as well as because of whatever you’re doing in your own local ministry.

We would humbly request that you be in serious prayer for our team of supporters. Serious challenges are widespread enough that about five different families are going to read this and assume this is written about them, but the reality is that many are experiencing interpersonal, financial and health-related challenges. I believe Ephesians 2:7 insinuates that every story that brings God glory will one day be told. “His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” works in every conceivable way, in the midst of every situation needing his presence and comfort. So my persuasion is that even our troubles will one day be revealed; we’ll say “so be it,” then. But not now, and not here.

C. S. Lewis said, “you have never talked to a mere mortal.” If I understand heaven correctly, it means that we will one day have far more intimate relationships with people we have never met here on earth than what we currently have with anyone we now know. We joyfully anticipate the relationships some of you who don’t yet know one another will then share, the wonderful stories you’ll want to hear one day.

We are so grateful for your financial and prayer support for our family. There’s no way for us to know, this side of heaven, what your prayers have meant for us; but we do know there are many who regularly lift us up before God’s throne. As you do so, would you also spend some time in prayer for our other ministry partners?

With half of 2010 over, the stats are in:

8.1 million have indicated decisions for Christ through our websites this year! 1.2 million have e-mailed us for follow-up.
With the first figure, we’re definitely on-track to meet our goal this year of 15 million. With the second, we’re slightly behind in our goal of 3 million. Please keep watching http://greatcommission2020.com/ and keep praying! Thank you for everything you help us help make possible!
